Children are asking their parents to travel far and wide to find Prime, Aldi is the latest UK store to stock the popular drink. Up until now, it was only to be found at Asda stores. The store had to put limits on sales, with customers restricted to three bottles at a time when it went on sale in October.

Generally speaking, Prime hydration may be a better alternative to other hydration drinks since it has no added sugar and fewer concerning ingredients. However, it does contain artificial sweeteners and preservatives, which a growing population prefers not to give to their kids.

It has been deemed "generally recognized as safe" by the US Food and Drug Administration. Still, some researchers are finding it could have negative health effects. One study done on mice found that Ace-K caused weight gain and shifts in the gut microbiome, which could potentially lead to obesity and chronic inflammation.

Not recommended for children or pregnant or breastfeeding women.

  • Is there any alcohol in Prime? NO. ABV: 0.0%

  • Is Prime drink fizzy? No. There is no fizz to it.

  • Why is Prime Hydration so sweet? Despite sucralose being 600 times sweeter than sugar, Prime Hydration has a second sweetener. It's the same “chemical” stuff that makes you pucker when you suck down Bang, Monster, and Red Bull. This one goes by the name of acesulfame potassium, or, understandably, Ace-K for short.

  • Is Prime drink a pre workout? Prime™ has a proprietary mix of energy boosting components that will increase training power and intensity. Prime™ pre-workout formula can give motivation and fuel for the most intense workouts.

  • Why is it so popular? It is created and marketed by Prime Hydration, a company founded by YouTubers Logan Paul and JJ Olatunji (known as KSI)

  • What is Prime drink made out of? The product website says Prime Hydration "is a naturally flavored beverage with 10% coconut water, BCAAs, antioxidants + electrolytes to help you refresh, replenish, and refuel" without caffeine, containing 20 calories per bottle.

Overall, Prime is considered to be safe, however many people do not recommend the drink due to the inclusion of a wide variety of questionable additive ingredients.

Let me know if you already tried, what did you think and if your child already tried.
